Eton Insta Photography Tour

Do you love taking photos, but are unsure of the best locations? Would you like to capture some wonderful photographs around Eton, and help in finding the most scenic places? Are you interested in quirky corners and unusual detail? Would you appreciate interesting titbits and stories from an area ambassador?

Local area expert Nicola Bell will guide you on a walk around Eton – at your own pace – for approx. 2 hours, helping you to capture striking and creative images of Eton, and helping you make the most of your time in our pretty town.

A resident of Windsor and Eton for over 25 years, Nicola has expert local knowledge of the area and regularly hosts group walking tours around Eton. She is part of the Information team at Eton Visitor Centre and manages and supplies the photographs for the official Visit Eton Instagram page @Visit_Eton.

During the 2020/21 lockdowns, Nicola set up a Community Facebook Group, Eye Spy Windsor & Eton – in which she set daily photographic brain-teaser challenges to 2,000 group members – where players had to identify and locate mystery places around Windsor and Eton, using cryptic clues and mystery photographs. During this time, Nicola was featured in several local magazines and as a guest on BBC Radio Berkshire talking about her photography.

Your walking tour will include photographic highlights, including:

  • Antony Gormley “The Edge II” sculpture.
  • King Henry VI statue, School Yard.
  • The gothic towers and buttresses of Eton Chapel.
  • Best View of Windsor Castle across the river.
  • Architectural detail including a rare Victorian Post Box and Burning Bush Lamp.

There will be plenty of opportunities to rest or take a seat during the walk, and refreshments can be purchased at any of the charming Eton cafes or shops along the way.

Nicola can meet at your hotel reception, or accommodation entrance – or suggests a meeting point on Windsor Bridge.

Please bring with you:

  • Camera or smartphone.
  • Water or other drink if desired.
  • Wear comfortable shoes.
  • Waterproof coat/umbrella if the weather looks inclement.

Nicola is so friendly and knowledgeable – she really enhanced our visit to Eton, we discovered loads of things we otherwise wouldn’t have known about.

I’ve been following Nicola on Instagram for a while and always enjoyed her photography – it was great having the chance to go with Nicola to some of the places I’ve seen in her photos and try to capture them myself.
